So great to see in print what we appreciate about Mary’s wines: great value, honest information, no “flimflammery”!

2017 Ganevat Kopin!
Chardonnays from the limestone soils of the Jura and Macon with a healthy splash of Riesling grown in Alsatian granite. After two years élevage in neutral oak they’re BFF’s.

Made by friends and to be shared with friends. (While watching the Golden Girls optional but recommended)

This wine feels you.

#anneetfrançoisganevat Chardonnay and Savagnin ouillé. Matured two years in neutral oak.

By request we have “some” quantity (i.e. a few cases vs. a few bottles of the estate wines) because these white blends from #ganevat are simply happy making. Delicious in a ways that please expert and less-experienced palates.

Fun fact:
Ouillé (here meaning topping up of barrels to make a non-oxidative wine) was historically also used to refer to people, in the sense of “filling, fattening, feeding someone”.

Like bears, we’re all looking to fill and fatten ourselves as the days shorten. At least figuratively if not literally. One could do worse than to do so with this wine.

Cuvée Madelon from #anneetfrançoisganevat

A 50/50 (-ish) blend of old-vine Gamay from Morgon and indigenous Jura varietals* planted “franc-pied” by #fanfan 15 years ago

Whole cluster fermentation by native yeasts, no added sulfites.

This is a theme of Jean-François’s, blending Gamay (which historically was grown in the Jura) with nearly forgotten varieties he has “hidden” amongst his Pinot, Trousseau, Savagnin, etc.

They are playful, drinkable explorations of what Jura wines may have tasted like in the past and provocative arguments for what they could be again but for the #juraaoc ...

*Jean-François has planted for blending, experimenting, and preservation: Enfariné, Corbeau, Gros Beclan, Petit Beclan, Gueuche, Argant, Syeve-Villard, Gouais, and others.
